Indoor Classic 2007 & Article of the Year

Last weekend my soccer club hosted their annual indoor soccer tournament (Indoor Classic). This year, given that we were making many changes to the format and I am President of the club, I decided the best thing to do was run the event (see me to the left looking all spiffy). This year's tournament was a major event. We had 18 teams from all over the country playing 10-12 minute soccer games from 11am to 11pm. While the teams had some breaks, myself and my VP, as organizers, didn't get a break. In the end, we got a great deal of positive feedback from the teams. Many said it was hands down the most well-organized event they had attended. One of the players from the west coast actually thought the organization was very familiar. He didn't realize until after the fact that it was familiar because he was a gamer that knew me when I ran tournaments for The Company years ago. Small world!

In other news I'm happy to report that a judge article I wrote for WotC on Building a Judge Community won article of the year for the Leadership category. You can see the announcement here. Currently voting is underway to select the overal best article of the year. I'm up against some tough competition here, but regardless of what happens it's great to have won in the Leadership category.
